Mr. Douthat


John Douthat was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He lived in a small Kansas town until age ten, when he moved to Tempe, Arizona, where his family still resides. Mr. Douthat graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Phoenix and after graduation attended A.S.U., N.A.U. and University of San Diego. Mr. Douthat has earned his Bachelor’s Degree in science in mathematics. He has taught math, science, and computer science since 1976 at a high school level, and has also spent two years as an instructor at A.S.U. Mr. Douthat is currently teaching Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus at Wichenburg High School. Some of his past careers include programming and working as an analyst. He enjoys chess, woodworking and playing the guitar. “Working with high school students is always different and fun!” according to Mr. Douthat. He is also constantly working to improve the math program and instruction at WHS to provide the maximum amount of learning efficiency.
