
During the summer months there is no official training for Cross Country for Wickenburg High School athletes. Prospective runners are encouraged to run over the summer on their own by their coach.
Suggested running plans are run one day and take the next day off and repeat that cycle (run every other day). Another cycle is to run two days and take the next day off and then repeat the cycle, never going two days in a row with out running. Many athletes are encouraged to run Monday - Friday and then take Saturday and Sunday off, then start over again on Monday.
Runners have the goal of running three miles nonstop and at a fairly comfortable pace by the end of the summer when the team meets to go to Cross Country Camp in Prescott.
In the summer of 2008, members of the WHS cross country team were to encouraged to meet on Friday mornings at 7:00 a.m. and run as a group from the high school. This event was well attended by all returning members of the cross country team.
